O: The Oprah Magazine
It sometimes is merely shortened to O, O: The Oprah Magazine is a monthly magazine established by Oprah Winfrey and Hearst Corporation. Ever since its beginning, Oprah has been pictured exclusively on the cover of each issue. O: The Oprah Magazine was 1st published on April 19, 2000. In March 2001 a section titled “O Positive”, Noreen O’Leary disputed that Oprah was successfully on the road to influencing the content of women’s magazines beyond her own. She has changed the content of women’s magazines just as she has reshaped daytime Television and the world of book publishing.

In April 2001, Oprah and the Hearst Corporation were sued for trademark infringement by Ronald Brockmeyer, the publisher of O Magazine, a German erotic magazine that preceded Oprah’s magazine by numerous years. In a March 2003 verdict, Judge John Koeltl dismissed the suit, bringing up the different content of the 2 magazines and the inconsistent publication schedule and the small amount of American sales by the German magazine.
A South African issue was printed in April 2002; according to the South African Advertising Research Foundation (SAARF), its normal following was well over 300,000. In June 2004, O: The Oprah Magazine’s average profited circulation was well over 2.7 million copies, 2/3 were sold by subscription. The first time Oprah shared cover of her magazine is on her April 2009 issue. She appears with the First Lady Michelle Obama on the cover of that issue.

July 2009, Susan Casey came to be the “editor-in-chief” of the magazine.
Formerly, Susan was the “development editor of Time Inc.” , “editor-in-chief of Sports Illustrated Women”, “editor-at-large for Time Inc.”, and “creative director of Outside”. Susan wrote the New York Times bestseller “The Devil’s Teeth: A True Story of Obsession and Survival among America’s Great White Sharks, and the Wave.” September 2009, O; The Oprah Magazine hired one time “Publishers Weekly editor–in–chief” Sara Nelson as “book editor at O.”The 2nd shared cover with Oprah on O: The Oprah Magazine is accompanied by fellow daytime host Ellen DeGeneres on the December 2009 publication. 4 different covers were shot for that special holiday issue. The December issue of O hit newsstands on November 12, 2009.
O: The Oprah Magazine iPad App
November 17, 2010, O: The Oprah Magazine’s publisher Hearst Magazines revealed the December issue of The Oprah Magazine on the iPad. This app included videos of Oprah, a comprehensive “Holiday Gift Guide”, and an entry for the “12-Day Holiday Give-O-Way” sweepstakes.
